BAE launches compact Shadow EW systems for small aircraft

BAE Systems has introduced the Shadow family of compact electronic-warfare systems for small crewed and uncrewed aircraft. The low-size, weight and power architecture is software-defined and field-upgradeable, allowing modules to support situational awareness, targeting, deception, survivability and collaborative effects as mission needs change. BAE says the designs use commercial microelectronics and open interfaces to accelerate upgrades and integration across different platforms. Production is planned in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, while software and system design work will be performed in Nashua, New Hampshire; no launch customer or contract value was announced.
